Social media and video streaming platforms are an extremely effective way to put your art out into the world. Whether it be music, dance or just your personality, it is considered one of the best, if not THE best marketing tool out there. TikTokers and viral stars can earn millions from posting content and some of the biggest names in music got their start on YouTube including Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara and Justin Bieber. That is exactly how teenage singer and lifestyle influencer Rosie McClelland got her start. In 2011 a YouTube video of two British girls rapping and dancing to Nicki Minaj’s ‘Super Bass‘ took the world by storm and went viral. Just 5 years old at the time, Rosie, alongside her cousin Sophia Grace, shot to super stardom appearing as regular guests on The Ellen Degeneres Show. They would host red carpet interviews for the biggest stars at the Grammy Awards, the MTV VMA’s and the AMA’s. in 2012, the two girls won ‘Choice Web Stars’ at the Teen Choice Awards and had a guest appearance on Nickelodeon’s ‘Sam & Cat’ alongside a young Ariana Grande. With a fanbase of millions, they starred in their own movie produced by Warner Home Entertainment titled, ‘Sophia Grace & Rosie’s Royal Adventure’. Rosie’s rise to fame was explosive and wouldn’t stop there. No longer a little girl, Rosie is focused on her solo music career and released her debut single ‘Handstand‘ in 2018. The success of her first few singles saw her perform at the BBC’s Summer Social Fest and Playlist Live.

On October 1st, Rosie released her newest pop single, ‘Ready For Love‘. This song is catchy, upbeat and bubbly which fits Rosie’s musical brand to a T. What is especially noteworthy about this track is that it is family friendly. With her content garnering over 500 million views worldwide, it’s safe to say that many young girls and boys listen to her music and look up to her. ‘Ready For Love‘ is a great message to the younger generation to slow down and just focus on being young, hanging out with your friends and not rush into dating and relationships so young.

Alongside her digital release, Rosie released a professional lyric video for ‘Ready For Love‘ that is just as bouncy and bright as the tune. As per many great lyric videos, this one pulls inspiration from the single cover featuring a soft purple lilac color with purple ‘hand painted’ hearts and the same bold paint stroke font. The music video has a fun social media theme showcasing different emoji’s, buttons and symbols all revolving around social platforms. This video concept is clever and appropriately caters to Rosie’s fanbase demographic. I really like when she sings “I’m not looking. I don’t think I’m ready for love” and they lyrics are creatively displayed as chat bubbles popping up in a DM with a background full of the ‘seen/ read’ eye. Another one of my favorite scenes is when the lyrics read “Me myself and I. No We won’t be changing for..” and there is a happy sliding emoji button which really drives home the song’s message. Other fun lyrical presentations are the long news feed scrolling, the sideways phone display and the LIVE profile circle. The text graphics, fast paced scene changes and pastel color palette all bring this video to life. It is wholesome and memorable and will have her fans watching this video over and over.
