Ninety Foot Stone – Awake

LyricVids, the leading lyric video company, had the pleasure of working with Canadian rock band Ninety Foot Stone on their latest release “Awake“. The band, led by guitarist Austin Cole from Uxbridge, Ontario, teamed up with Duncan Coutts and Jason Pierce (Our Lady Peace), Taylor Perkins (Bleeker), and Jeff Heisholt (The Trews) to form this new Canadian rock collaborative. Known for their dark 90’s rock-inspired jams with a modern hard rock edge, Ninety Foot Stone released their debut single “Out Of My Head” in 2021 and their follow-up single “Mad” in the Spring of 2022, both produced by world-class rock legend Brian Moncarz.

Ninety Foot Stone released their newest single “Awake” in April which Austin says, “is a hard hitting song that also features slowed down verses with unique vocal tones creating a seamless connection between heavy and melodic.” He goes on to explain that this single is different from the previous two “because of the range of vocals Taylor does. There’s much more vocal dynamic in this song making it stand out from the first two releases.

NFS teamed up once again with LyricVids this Spring to produce a professional lyric video to pair with the single release which was heavily inspired by the tracks single cover. When we asked why the band chose a lyric video for this track, Austin said “We’ve done two other lyric videos prior to this one and we really like what they offer us in terms of versatility. There’s lots of different sections we can cut out for social media posts as well as marketing campaigns. People really liked our previous campaigns and the visuals that we had attached so it made perfect sense to have another one done.” The video features haunting visuals of barren trees, dark forests and solemn fields as well as ravens which was a prominent feature on the single cover. The video has a grungy energy about it with a distinct focus on the lyrics which are displayed in a large sans serif font. Austin says his favourite part of the video is “the first 20 seconds. The guitars match up so well with the visuals on the screen and once the heavier guitars come in and the NFS title comes up it just seems like the perfect set of events.

Up next for the budding Canadian rock group, they say, “We are currently working on writing multiple other songs set to come out over the next 18 months.” You can follow Ninety Foot Stone on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter or across music streaming platforms @ninetyfootstone or check out their website https://www.ninetyfootstone.com/
