Reyanna Maria – what’s ur sign?

Women have been leading the pop scene for decades. Arguably starting with Madonna in the 1980’s, where being bold, sexy and confident was a new trend. In the 1990’s and the 2000’s we saw a flood of these artists with Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey – the list is endless. These women paved the way for a new generation of powerful and independent female artists in the music industry. One of the newest artists on this platform is 19-year-old Reyanna Maria. This Filipino-Australian singer/songwriter is a force to say the least. She is unapologetically confident and her IDGAF attitude is contagious. Reyanna began her music career taking vocal lessons at a young age and performing covers on the social media platform TikTok.

In January, this budding songstress released ‘So Pretty‘ which completely exploded and became an overnight success along with it’s remix release featuring Tyga. The song went viral and became the featured audio for a global TikTok trend garnering over 100 million views. This spotlight caught the eye of Victor Victor Worldwide CEO, Steven Victor and signed her immediately. Reyanna was flown out to L.A. where she recorded and released her newest single ‘what’s ur sign?‘ via Republic Records on September 15th. There is no doubt this song will follow in its predecessor’s tracks in going viral. Reyanna’s sultry vocals and flirtacious lyrics are catchy and will have the whole world singing along. On top of the new single release, Reyanna Maria simultaneously released a vibrant and playful professionally produced lyric video for ‘what’s ur sign?‘. Seeing as though this new star has such a large fan base already, spread out around the world, a lyric video release was a smart choice in representing this track. Not only visually to help establish a brand but lyric videos play a crucial role for fans. It creates an official platform for them to return to learn their new favorite song without having to search up the lyrics and risk singing the wrong words from a fan-made video or website. This song has huge potential in going viral and a lyric video with fun colors and visuals is a great way to accomplish that.

When watching the lyric video for ‘what’s ur sign?‘ it is apparent that it takes huge inspiration from the single cover. Not only does it feature her name in the same silky script font but it lives within the same pinkalicious universe. I love everything about this 90s think-pink world. The background sparkles and shines with glitter and the white clouds are seen bellowing behind the lyrics which offers a really cool layered aspect. The single cover features these cute neon planets and stars which were brought to life in this music video. Aside from the lyrics themselves, these rotating planets are a fun visual throughout the video which don fun cheetah patterns and hearts. The video showcases two separate fonts, one matching that on the single art as well as a really in-your-face sans serif. The script font is really creative and appears to have a neon airbrush effect around it. Both fonts are different shades of pink which is completely on-brand with the theme of this video. My favorite feature in this lyric video are the fast-paced transitions between scenes and lines. One minute the video is panning to the left then there’s a quick zoom out to reveal the next line in the song. All of the transitions are on beat and add such a high level production value to the lyric video.

The energy surrounding Reyanna Maria as an artist and her music is electric. Thanks to social media, her fan base is growing at an unprecedented rate each day and her music is hot and viral. The professional lyric video for ‘what’s ur sign?‘ was a well-packaged gift to her fans and a great addition to her visual portfolio. You can follow Reyanna Maria on all social media platforms and we look forward to her upcoming debut EP.
