Happy Birthday LyricVids!

Happy Birthday LyricVids! We can’t believe that we’ve turned 7 years old today! From what was once a dream and now a reality, it has truly been an incredible journey.

It feels much shorter and way longer at the same time! We’ve produced more than 1000 videos at this point, and it’s kind of cool that when we started out we were so new to the lyric video space, but now 7 years later we really feel like industry leaders. The team has grown. We have learned so much. I’m excited for the future.” – Anthony, Co-Owner & President

“Year seven has been a big one for me. We moved into a larger studio and brought in a full team of creatives to collaborate with us in-house, which has been my dream since day one. I’m beyond grateful for how far we’ve come, and can’t wait to see what the rest of the decade brings.” – Jess, Co-Owner & Creative Director

We thought it would be fun to celebrate by highlighting 7 different LyricVids videos that really showcases what we can do as leaders in this space!

  1. Ty Baynton – The World Could Use A Cowboy (LyricVids Standard)

First up we have one of our LyricVids Standard videos. At this production level, you get a lyric video that is clean and simple. Typically it features a single background theme with one font and one style of lyric animation. Ty Baynton is a Canadian-born cowboy with a passion for country music. The lyric video for his single “The World Could Use A Cowboy” perfectly encapsulates who he is as an independent artist as well as the general Western-premise of the song. With an obvious cowboy theme, the music video showcases kindred visuals such as picket fences, horseback riding, desert landscapes and the rancheros in all of their glory. The clips rotate between a dusty orange palette and black and white, elevating the production of this lyric video.  The font choice is a bold Wild West style displayed between two simple line shapes, resembling an old wanted poster.

  1. ARIA – Watch It Burn (LyricVids Plus)

Next we have one of our LyricVids Plus videos. Similar to a Standard video but with a little more production value, some variation of background themes and two fonts with two styles of lyric animation. ARIA is a rapper out of Washington, DC who has had great success in his early career with over 15 million Spotify streams. “Watch It Burn” was featured on the hit CW tv show ‘All American’ so releasing a powerful lyric video for the song was important. With another apparent theme of fire, the visuals in this music video compliment the emotive tones of the artist’s lyrics. The imagery is artistically framed where the fire features a red color overlay which stands out from the opposing monochromatic visuals. This lyric video showcases an elegant serif font as well as a bold gothic font style that fades in using an enchanting flicker transition, further playing into the burning premise throughout.

  1. Billy Dans – Ontspanje (LyricVids Platinum)

Up next is one of our LyricVids Platinum videos. These videos offer even more creativity, with more complex and produced sequences, multiple fonts and transitions, and some eye-catching effects to really bring the video to life. Singer/songwriter and rapper Billy Dans hails from Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and being a native to one of the hottest music scenes in the world, the lyric video for his hit song “Ontspanje” had to be special. No need to go to the beach because this music video brings Ibiza beach vibes to you! I’m talking neon lights, palm trees, banana leaves, white sand coastlines, luxury pools, expensive yachts, this video has it ALL! The visuals are layered and the lyric transitions are just as bouncy and uplifting as the beat. This lyric video showcases two fonts, a clean sans serif font and a neon pink glowing brush stroke font which is used to highlight key lyrics such as “Ibiza”, “Amsterdam” and “Dansje”. The overall theme is beach party which really complements the single’s energy.

  1. Jason Derulo – Lifestyle (ft. Adam Levine) (LyricVids Infinity)

Our LyricVids Infinity videos come in many different shapes and sizes but all with the promise of a dynamic and customized lyric video as these are our highest level of production. These videos are perfect for label artists with a budget that allows for a more complex video treatment. International superstars Jason Derulo and Adam Levine (Maroon 5) teamed up for this smash hit and of course, the lyric video for “Lifestyle” had to represent that level of stardom. This is a classic LyricVids ‘table top’ style music video, which just as it sounds, appears to be an actual table full of fun visuals, media and of course, lyrics. The video appears to zoom in on different parts around the black leather table, showcasing all sorts of creative layers and even taking it’s viewers on a physical journey inside the featured polaroids. These pictures showcase all the beautiful travel destinations around the globe as we follow a little flying golden airplane across the world (aka the table). The theme for this music video is luxury because “we bout that lifestyle” and the use of the scattered 3D elements such as diamonds, gold, jewellery and champagne bottles sells that premise. Using creative textures such as rolling purple silk, golden glitter and flashing disco lights to display the different font choices shows you how carefully designed each of these lyric videos are. This video now has over a million YouTube views with comments like “great lyrical video”.

  1. Ambar Lucid – Un Animal (Divina Existencia) (LyricVids Visualizer)

An audio visualizer is a creative video production that in some way responds to the music but doesn’t have lyrics animated as part of it. It tends to generate animated imagery based on the music and for added effect, can be synchronized with the music itself. This is one of the most popular choices among DJs, producers and EDM artists. Instead of an app-generated visualizer, LyricVids produces customized videos that directly relate to the artist’s song, using mood, theme and branding as major inspirations. Ambar Lucid is a Mexican/Dominican musician from New Jersey with 50 million + Spotify streams and a known trend setter in Latinx Pop. The visualizer that we made for her song “Un Animal” was visually inspired by the song’s EP cover as well as the press kit photo used to promote the single which both feature strong astrological elements. This visualizer is ethereal, taking its viewers on a kaleidoscopic journey through space. The video showcases visuals of a starry galaxy with colliding moons, planets and asteroids all slowly warping around the screen in time to the artist’s sultry vocals. Using images of the singer herself, hidden among the stars as if she were the goddess of everything, and a moody purple, pink and red color palette, really ties the whole music video together, giving it that “Divina Existencia” (divine existence) energy.

  1. Morgan Jams – Back Door Santa (LyricVids Animation)

The team at LyricVids takes pride in the art they produce and after hundreds of highly produced videos, they are certainly building their way up to be the experts in the world of lyric videos. Throughout the years, our animated videos have become increasingly more popular as we have experimented with different forms of illustration techniques and animations. Our artists have explored all different styles of animation including era-specific and culturally inspired cartoons. Not only do animated videos work for a lyric video, they also make great music videos and audio visualizers and are a great option for artists who produce songs without lyrics.

Singer/songwriter Morgan James hails from Boise, Idaho with professionally trained vocals that caught the world by storm on the viral ‘Postmodern Jukebox’ YouTube channel. Her remake of the classic hit “Back Door Santa” called for something extra special and after collaborating with the LyricVids team, a 1930s rubber-hose gender-swapping animation felt perfect. Inspired by the early years of animation, this music video features a frisky light haired character who messes around with all the boys in town. The animations are fun with different provocative scenes garnering laughs from its viewers. This cartoon music video is just one of many great examples of what the LyricVids team can do.

  1. Sech x Dj Khaled – Borracho (International Artist)

Last but certainly not least, one of LyricVids most valued privileges is the opportunity to work with so many international artists. We have produced videos for musicians in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Indonesia, South Korea, the list is endless. With music scenes sometimes bigger and brighter than North America, it’s an honor to be able to create art with teams on the other side of the globe. Panamanian musician Sech teamed up with renowned producer DJ Khaled for Latinx club banger “Borracho”. Almost entirely in Spanish, we were able to create a powerful Infinity level lyric video that fit the disastrous theme of the song. Images of broken down cars stacked on top of each other, waste yards and dirty phone booths are powerful and add to that cataclysm feeling one feels when they are heartbroken. Textured layers of wrinkled paper, gritty fabrics, plastered murals, metal fencing and sewer grids are all used to compliment the lyric display. There are 2 fonts showcased throughout the music video with the first resembling a stenciled graffiti styled font that is often animated by letter to appear as if it is being spray painted on the screen as the lyrics are sung. The second font has a similar hand painted vibe but features a creative brush stroke look. Both of these fonts are eye-catching and are displayed largely throughout the lyric video often appearing on walls or concrete floors and surrounded by paint splatter.
