The team at LyricVids are always excited when we get to work on projects from around the globe and have produced videos for many artists from countries including the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Mexico, Indonesia and South Korea. Listening to music from different places and cultures is what breathes life into our work and the music videos that we produce. In 2021 we added French band Telegraph to that list with the release of their nostalgic lyric video release for ‘Time to Come Home‘.

Telegraph is a relatively new pop band hailing from Paris, France. Comprised of cousins Julien (lead vocals, guitar) and Matthiew Humez (guitar, vocals) and close friend Maxime Fornareso (drums, keyboard, vocals). This indie-pop band was formed in 2016 on the sunny roads of California and their debut EP ‘Simple Drive‘ was released in 2020 garnering millions of streams across multiple platforms. They describe themselves on their social media as “three friends, a breath of freedom and a strong desire to discover the world.”. In the early summer of 2021, Telegraph released their second EP titled, ‘From Cages with Love‘ totaling 3 songs, which they say is a ‘letter from home‘ and a ‘wistful look on the world‘. This EP was actually recorded in their studio on a boat near Paris and this comes as no surprise as it suits the brand of this free-spirited band completely. The bouncier and more upbeat of all the songs is ‘Time to Come Home‘. The band says “this song is quite metaphoric actually. With the story of a persona leaving everything behind, we want to tell the story of this troubled year, like a picture taken in the heat of the action, and give a positive message about an opportunity to be reborn, together.“. A combination of beautifully written lyrics, fun instrumentals and their rugged good looks, these three are setup for stardom.

On June 23rd, Telegraph supported the release of their second EP with a unique and personal lyric video for their track, ‘Time to Come Home‘. Looking back on their first road trip to California, the music video showcases real footage from their travels. The choice to use real shots instead of stock footage was a great decision. The video is raw, hand held and at times, out of focus which just makes it feel more sincere and sets the mood for the nostalgic video. Although stock footage could showcase the beautiful sites that California has to offer, I feel that the real deal gives this music video much more depth and emotion and it was important to Telegraph that they share this behind-the-scenes truth with their fans. I love the way that the footage is cut and layered, showcasing a combination of what many American road trips might look like, setting suns, stunning beaches and long highways. When asked about their favorite part of the video Telegraph says, “We really like the parts with the landscapes of the desert. It’s not very far from Las Vegas but still you can feel the wilderness and very peaceful energy surrounding. It’s a very precious memory we’re glad to share.“.

The color gradient is soft and warm with yellow, orange and red tones which is the quintessential California dusk palette. This lyric video sets a mood that says, our great lifechanging vacation/trip is coming to an end and it’s time to say goodbye. This is ever so fitting against the lyrics of the song, especially when they sing, “it’s time for me to come home” and we see visuals of a long desert road ahead. A simple but eye-catching custom feature is the use of an artistic split screen border and textbox frame that shimmers a constant dazzling hue cycle. This elevates the lyric video and adds a level of fun that coincides with the upbeat music and provides a balance against the nostalgic theme in order to avoid melancholy. The bold and colorful fonts are distinct and zestful and the added wiggle effect is nothing short of charming, which sums up not only this song, but Telegraph as a band.

This lyric video really captured this folk band’s goal of sharing some of their most precious memories with their fans. Up next for Telegraph they say, “Right now, we are working on our next songs on a farm in the countryside of Norway. We are surrounded by mountains and forests. It’s quite amazing to be here, so inspiring. We’ll be back in France next September, with new songs we can’t wait to play live. Of course, we’ll also have some shows in France before the end of the year, it’s still quite difficult for live music because of the pandemic so we feel very lucky for all the opportunities we get.” You can follow Telegraph on all social media platforms or check out their website at www.telegraphband.com
