Royal Republic – Magic

Music is my love language. Pop music, Electronic dance music, country, classical, hip hop; I listen to all genres and styles. Rock music is special though and I have been pulled to it ever since I was little. In November 2020, I heard a song that brought me back and really made my ears tingle. It was rock music group Royal Republic’s new single ‘Magic’. This song gave me full body vibes and not only did I have a new favorite song, it had a crazy custom professional lyric video to go with it.

The glowing neon font is so electric and is influenced by the single cover

Royal Republic was founded in 2007 in Malmö, Sweden. This head-banging new group is made up of four Nordic heartthrobs, Adam Grahn on guitar and lead vocals, Hannes Irengård on guitar, Jonas Almén on bass and Per Andreasson on drums. They all met while studying at the prestigious Malmö Academy Of Music and decided to steer off the beaten path and create something unique. Their first album, ‘We Are the Royal’ had immediate success, with three singles reaching number 1 on Swedish alternative radio station’s Bandit Rock’s Most Wanted List and another reaching number 1 on MTV Rockcharts. With millions of streams on Spotify and Youtube, these trained musicians have reached international ears and their success is not slowing down. In November 2020, they released their banging new alternative single, ‘Magic’. This song is exactly what has been missing from this genre for so long. The intro gives me serious Blue Swede – ‘Hooked On A Feeling’ vibes and I am living for it. Along with some retro energy, there is some clear early 2000s rock inspiration.

The use of smoke in this lyric video is truly a sensory experience

This track is invigorating and lucky for us, there is an equally as stimulating professional lyric video to go with it. The music video is everything this song needs. It is percussive, textured and vibrant. Right away, the fans can see that the lyric video is going to be a perfect extension on the single cover art with the band’s logo and the trichromatic palette use of black, white and turquoise. Matching the video to the single art is an ongoing trend for lyric videos and is an excellent way to provide visual continuity for the artist’s fans as well as effectively portraying the brand of the artist or the song.

The visuals in this lyric video are sexy and mysterious

This brand portrayal is extremely successful as viewers immediately can feel the underground mood shift with the sharp textured ripped backgrounds and the smoky overlay. The visuals in this lyric video are sexy and mysterious, such as a black silhouette of a beautiful woman walking towards the screen with a backlight behind her lighting the way in the dark. There are many shots of stunning silhouetted women and the viewers know that the song is aimed at them and their magic. Other visuals such as the rapidly changing lipstick marks in the background are so fun and edgy.

This lyric video uses two different font styles

This lyric video uses two different font styles, one being big-boxed lettering and the other being a paint stroke style. These two work so well together in visually representing Grahn’s intense voice. You can see the power behind the font style and size in parts of the song like when he sings, “I think you’re MAD, you’re MAD, you’re MAGIC”. The keywords are bold and eye catching just like the vocals are to the ears. The neon glowing title introduction of ‘Magic’ is another way that this music video has tied into the single art flawlessly using text alone.

The keywords are bold and eye catchin

All of the lyric video’s visuals, font and colour choices are dead on and the brand story is crystal clear and cohesive. It is a complete package of sultry electric rock and roll for all Royal Republic fans to unwrap. Abracadabra, alakazam, I need you to understand that this high-quality custom lyric video is pure rock glam fantasy, and I am completely hypnotized by it’s magic.
